Italian Club Sandwich

I really love sandwiches. I think they are the perfect meal. Sometimes it is totally worth it to go all out on a sandwich and this is one of those times. I toasted the bread a little too much so it was extra crunchy, but even then this sandwich was excellent.

Italian Club Sandwich

35 minutes

Serves 2

Ingredients:

6 slices of Italian bread

2 Tbsp. olive oil

1 Tbsp. red wine vinegar

1 tsp. Italian herbs

1 tsp. garlic powder

2 Tbsp. shredded parmesan cheese

2 Tbsp. mayonnaise

2 Tbsp. mustard

¼ lb. thinly sliced mortadella

¼ lb. genoa salami

2 slices of provolone cheese

romaine lettuce

1 tomato, sliced

4 bacon slices, cooked

4 pimento stuffed olives

Directions:

Mix together oil, vinegar, herbs, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Place slices of bread on baking sheet and brush oil mixture on top and sprinkle parmesan cheese. Bake at 375 degrees for 5 to 6 minutes until lightly toasted. Spread untoasted sides with mayonnaise and mustard. Layer two bread slices with mortadella, salami, and provolone. Top with two bread slices, mayonnaise side up. Layer with lettuce, tomato, and bacon. Top with remaining bread slices mayonnaise side down. Cut in half and secure with toothpicks and top with olives.
